【A monochrome tea canister that highlights the captivating texture of cherry bark】

A project reimagines Kaba-zaiku from a modern perspective, transforming it into a piece of contemporary art. A matte white or black paint is applied to enhance the natural, organic texture of the cherry bark, emphasizing its unique irregularities. This approach also allows for the use of materials that were traditionally challenging to incorporate, making it possible to utilize limited resources more efficiently. Inside, the tea caddy is crafted using traditional techniques, with the polished red finish creating a striking contrast against the matte exterior.
