Shin Azumi

Shin Azumi is a Japanese product designer born in 1965 in Kobe, Japan. He graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts in 1989 and received his Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art, London, in 1994.

Based in London during the early part of his career, he worked as part of the design unit AZUMI before establishing his own practice, a studio, in 2005. Since then, he has collaborated with numerous internationally renowned companies, designing products across a wide range of sectors.

His work has received many international design awards, and he has frequently served as a juror for major design competitions. His designs are held in the permanent collections of museums worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

In 2016, he relocated his base to Japan and became Professor in the Department of System Design, Faculty of Engineering and Design, at Hosei University. In addition, he has held visiting professorships at Osaka University of Arts, Akita University of Art, and Kyoto City University of Arts.
