History of Tomioka Shoten

1970 : Established Tomioka Shoten Kikuchi Shoten (Kaba-zaiku wholesaler, Kakunodate-machi) closed down, Kazuya Tomioka took over as Tomioka Shoten
1975 : Incorporated. Established Tomioka Shoten Co., Ltd.
1976 : Opened an office and exhibition hall at 16 Mizunozawa, Iwase, Kakunodate-machi. In this year, kaba-zaiku (cherry bark work) was designated as a traditional craft by the Minister of International Trade and Industry.
1981 : Received the Ministry of International Trade and Industry Consumer Affairs Bureau Director-General's Award at the Northern Tohoku Traditional Crafts Contest
1982 : Established an office and exhibition hall at the current location of the former head office
1988 : Established a new factory on the site adjacent to the former head office
1991 :  "Cherry Bark & Bunako" was selected by Craft Center Japan
1993 : Received the Governor of Akita Award at the 7th Akita Craft Exhibition
1994 : Kakunodate store relocated to Tamachi Kamicho
2002 : Established a new gallery on the site adjacent to the former head office
2005 : Relocated the head office to Higashi Katsurakucho, Kakunodate-machi, and exhibited at the trade fair "Interior Lifestyle" held at Tokyo Big Sight, where the former head office is the sales headquarters.
2012 - 2019 : Exhibited at the "Ambiente" trade fair in Germany. Exhibited Exhibited at the "Interior Lifestyle" trade fair held at Tokyo Big Sight
2012 : Tray "kasanegasane" won the Small and Medium Enterprise Director's Award at the National Traditional Crafts Exhibition
2015 : Tea caddy "Join" certified as the wonder 500
2020 : Exhibited at the "Maison & Objet Paris" trade fair in France
2023 : Exhibited at the "Maison & Objet Paris" trade fair in France
