A project that reimagines Kaba-zaiku from a modern perspective, transforming it into a work of contemporary craftsmanship. Matte white, black, and transparent coatings are applied to accentuate the organic surface and natural irregularities of the wild cherry bark. This finish allows for the use of materials that were once difficult to handle with traditional methods, promoting the effective utilization of limited resources. Inside, the polished reddish-purple and vermilion tones—both traditional colors—create a beautiful contrast with the refined matte exterior.
